German hospitality and VOC-free batteries: a NoVOC consortium meeting
Last week, the NoVOC consortium gathered in Ellwangen, Germany, for its latest consortium and General Assembly meeting, kindly hosted by our project partner VARTA AG. The meeting brought together partners from across Europe to discuss recent developments, align on next steps, and further strengthen collaboration within the project.
As the NoVOC project enters a crucial phase, the consortium focused on reviewing scientific progress, discussing upcoming milestones, and addressing challenges related to timelines and implementation. The meeting provided an important opportunity for partners to exchange expertise, reflect on current achievements, and coordinate future activities aimed at advancing VOC-free solutions for battery production and industrial value chains.
Collaboration Across Borders and Disciplines
One of the key strengths of the NoVOC project continues to be the strong collaboration between partners from different scientific and industrial backgrounds. Throughout the meeting, participants engaged in intensive discussions on topics ranging from sustainable manufacturing processes to scaling innovative technologies for industrial application.
The consortium meeting also highlighted the importance of flexibility and effective communication in large collaborative projects. Both on-site and online participants were actively integrated into discussions through collaborative group work and digital tools supporting transparent exchange and joint problem-solving.
Building Cleaner and More Sustainable Industrial Processes
The NoVOC project aims to contribute to safer, cleaner, and more sustainable battery manufacturing by reducing or eliminating volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from production processes. Achieving this goal requires close cooperation between researchers, industry partners, and technology developers across the entire value chain.
The discussions in Ellwangen demonstrated not only the technical progress achieved so far, but also the strong commitment of all partners to driving sustainable innovation forward. The consortium continues to work together toward developing solutions that support the future of European battery manufacturing and contribute to broader climate and sustainability goals.
Looking ahead
The meeting concluded with a shared sense of motivation for the next phase of the project. With continued collaboration, knowledge exchange, and joint problem-solving, the NoVOC consortium is well positioned to advance its objectives and contribute meaningful innovations to the European battery ecosystem.
The consortium would like to thank VARTA AG once again for hosting the meeting and providing an excellent environment for productive discussions and collaboration.
