The Battery heroes cluster is a cluster of battery development related projects that has been created in January 2023 by four battery “sister projects” funded under the same Horizon Europe call, in order to consolidate their collaboration.

The four initial sister projects are:

In January 2024, two new projects were integrated into the cluster:

As the cluster of Battery Heroes, we want to contribute significantly to making Europe’s battery industry more sustainable. We will do this by enabling synergistic partnerships and enhancing the collective capability of our EU-funded projects to innovate sustainably in battery manufacturing.

Our mission statement

“The Battery Heroes cluster facilitates the exchange of knowledge and joint activities among its members and beyond to optimise sustainable battery production technologies across the EU. By sharing best practices and experiences, collaborating with other existing clusters and networks, and coordinating our communications and conference participation, we aim to improve project outcomes, enhance efficiency, and implement practical advancements in battery technology.”

Our strategic objectives

Foster collaboration

  • Encourage an environment where members can freely exchange insights, findings, and advancements.
  • Host regular joint meetings to maintain a steady flow of communication and idea-sharing between cluster members and beyond.

Maximize synergies and minimize redundancies

  • Promote collaborative learning and sharing of project management and communication strategies among cluster members to enhance the overall effectiveness of our EU-funded projects.
  • Coordinate efforts in social media and other communication platforms to avoid duplicative content, ensuring that posts from individual projects are cross-promoted or referred among the group.
  • Strategically attend scientific conferences as a unified group to boost our collective presence and avoid overlapping participation, thereby maximising the impact and visibility of the cluster.

Expand influence and outreach

  • Establish a visible presence at key scientific conferences through coordinated booths and presentations, showcasing the collective expertise and achievements of the cluster.
  • Pursue engagement with other project clusters, networks, and stakeholders to exchange best practices and foster potential partnerships.
  • Collaborate on the preparation of joint policy briefs and recommendations that reflect the cluster’s research findings and advocate for sustainable practices and regulations in the battery industry.
